Creek Edge Press Review…

.

The TOS Review Crew was able to pick between a few sets of the different “task cards” to review for Creek Edge Press.

Their website says “Our goal is to provide a simple tool that pulls together the best of Classical, Charlotte Mason, and Montessori education. We do this with affordable, topic based Task Card Sets that facilitate discovery based, research oriented, independent learning.”

The website explains how to use the cards in support of those educational styles. Here is a snip-it of each …..

Classical – Tasks point to key vocabulary, tasks encourage students to read, think, and respond. The research tasks facilitate a habit of reading for detail, prepares grammar stage for dialectic.

Charlotte Mason – Tasks rely on narration, primary means of response to reading and listening. The student encounters meaningful ideas and expression within the materials chosen for study.

Montessori – The parent prepares learning environment and student engages in research tasks indicated on the cards. Topics on cards are specific, the tasks are purposely open ended to allow for individual investigation and response at student’s pace.

I asked to review the Life Science Task Cards. They are $18.00 and if you click HERE you can see them on their website. I received the “Course Introduction” booklet (13 pages) and 37 “Task cards”. The size of the task cards are 5 and a half inches by 4 and a quarter inch. They are of a standard card stock…maybe a little bit less.

The Life Science Cards can be used for all grades up to 8th. They cover Animals, Human Body, and Plants.

What did we think…..well…if I had young children I would love these. They are hands on and kinda your interest directed learning if that makes any sense……You do what you want! — You read what you want. I have an older child, I can see him skimping out and just getting by. So I don’t see this working out very well for the older child to go in-dept learning…BUT that’s NOT what it is intended for. It says in MANY different places – these are intended for grades through 6th and 8th. ~smile~ So I think they did a great job!!

Okay folks, please go to their website just click –> HERE, and look around – check them out, you won’t be sorry. Also go see what my awesome other Crew Mate reviewed —-> remember we were able to ask for the Task Cards we wanted, so we have different ones. Just click HERE.

And remember –I received this Task Cards in exchange for my honest opinion and review/blog post. And nothing else …..zip, zilch, nada, and what-ever else, yadda-yadda ~smile~
