Couponing…..the crazyiness I just learned of!

I love coupons!……I will say it again, I love coupons!

I have been using coupons for so many years. Way, way, way before that stupid show on TLC aired: Extreme Couponing.

I recently found out about the new Walmart coupon policy changes. They went into effect September 1, 2012. At first it really “torqued my jaw”, “ticked me off” and just all around irradiated the crap out of me! I have had “issues” with Walmart a few times in the past. Once I was treated like a thief  by one of the managers. She really pissed me off – and I was NEVER rude; I wanted to be – but where would that have gotten me? I was using my coupons correctly. I was not doing anything wrong. But she treated me as if I was……Anyway, on to the reason for this post.

After reading an interesting post from iheartthemart.com :

http://www.iheartthemart.com/2012/09/11/new-walmart-coupon-policy-changes-sept-1-2012/

I was blown away by the information, I was completely shocked. I then went to  jillactaldo.com and read more:

http://www.jillcataldo.com/alleged-tlc-extreme-couponing-fraud

What a thieving witch this woman is! Thank you Jaime Kirlew! Because of thieves like you, I get treated like a thief…..thanks! Here I am trying to save my family a little money by clipping coupons, and using them in the manner I am supposed to – and you go ripping stores off so they don’t trust any of us! You are giving couponers a bad name. I honestly hope they have pursued charges against you. You know what you are doing is wrong. I can’t believe you had the nerve to blame it on a company you supposedly learned it from. And just because they said to do it, you did! And you actually think it’s fine. Come on woman! you are a mom, haven’t you ever heard or used the: “and if all of your friends jumped off a bridge, are you gunna do it too?”  What the heck were you thinking woman? That is a great example to show your kids. One day your kids will Goggle your name. How embarrassing!

By now, I am guessing y’all have clicked on the links above and know where I am coming from. I had NEVER heard of this type of fraud before. Maybe y’all already have, I don’t know. But I wanted to help spread the word a bit.

I kinda understand why Walmarts are such jerks to the couponing community. They have been getting ripped off. The part that still gets me is: they know that the fraud is NOT the norm, but they treat us all as the crooks. Which is really bad business. And with the new policy changes – it’s going to be very difficult to use legit coupons. Because if the computer does not scan the coupon correctly ON THE FLATBED scanner….they will refuse it! They are not allowed to use the hand held scanner for the coupons. At least before all of this mess – they used to manually put the coupon in and then it would take. Now they will not do that any more. Why does that tick-me-off? Because every single time I go to Walmart….it doesn’t matter if I use one or twenty coupons; there are ALWAYS some that won’t scan. And they ARE legit COUPONS! But Walmart does not care!

I take great pride in the way I “get” my printed coupons. I ONLY go to the reputable sites to print from. I have never “copied” coupons to have more than the allowed amount. I have ALWAYS practiced proper couponing. I just wish everyone did the same.

So my friends – have I ticked-you-off too?    ~smh~

Sorry.    :0)

Blessings All, till next time.

Bring It on….

Have you ever had those days, weeks or months …..that you thank the Lord for your wonderful life but also wondered why you have to go through something so bad?…..Why does bad things happen to good people? I really wish I knew. ….. As long as we have each other (Jesse and I) we can make it through anything. I truly believe that…….so bring it on devil!

TOS Reviews where have they been?…..

I have left the Old Schoolhouse Review Crew — yes seriously. Not!! because there was a problem with them. I love the Crew more than I could EVER put into words. I have had to leave them due to some personal hardships that has been put on my family. They (TOS) had been a huge blessing to our family over the last three years. I was “on-board” to be with the Crew for this summer voyage when “IT” happen to our family.

“It” equals Train Wreak!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I want to personally say thank you TOS for a wonderful three years. We were a fantastic match. You were good to me and I hope you feel the same. Your clients were/are important to me also. It was an honor to review all of the products over the past three years. Some were wonderful matches for us and some were not – - that’s what is so awesome about TOS. They wanted us to blog the truth. —-> That’s so important when Moms and Dads are looking for honest information about items for their family. Moneys tight right now in these times. We just don’t have it to waste on things we know nothing about. And we don’t have the extra money to just “take a chance on it”. It is so important to have a place we can go on the internet and find so much information from so many different families that have been able to use that item and tell us what it was REALLY like. WOW! –> BRILLIANT!
And I want to give a personal thank you to Gena Suarez, she is the publisher at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine – thank you dear sweet – sweet lady. Your heart is amazing. You have such a big job but you always have time for everyone!….including raising an amazing BIG family too! – wowzers woman!!
And dear sweet Boss lady Kate Kessler – You came into the Crew later in the game – that’s hard to do. You have worked so hard! And you have worked your way into everyone’s heart because of your sweet warmth! You guide YOUR Crew with SO much love and encouragement – you are just – a pile of sugar girl! Who could not LOVE you to pieces!!!! Thank you for everything…. I really mean it.   :-)
I left the Crew at the end of May. It has taken this long to write about it. I am sorry it has taken so long. I am still very sad and very angry about the situation my family has been put in. But God never promised up all easy days eh? We have had it pretty good the last ten or so years – I guess it’s time for some “trials and tribulations”. Well, we are definitely getting them! We live right, we do right and teach our children right but still there are evil people out there – and they seek to destroy. Luckily God and having done the right things in the past will prove to being a good thing and will help us through this rough spot in our life. Because it is just a “spot” in a wonderful life that we have built. Yeah! I know I am not telling y’all WHAT is going on. I am a bit private. I will quit babbling now. All I ask is for you all pray for my family. Just pray we come out of “all of this mess” – “okay and intact”. And that “God’s will be done”.
I hope to blog soon, don’t give up on me…I will be here.
Also PLEASE continue to check out my fellow Crew Mates…..haha, I mean…..continue to follow the Crew! They are doing some amazing reviews. And their site is all new too –  please go check them out, tell them I sent ya.
TOS Review: CapJaxMathFax
.
CapJaxMathFax
I remember trying to learn my math facts……I hated them…….did you read that?…I said I hated them!! Well it turns out —> my son hated them too! But honestly with lots of work…anyone can learn them!…It’s not rocket science!
This time with the TOS Crew I was able to review “CapJaxMathFax.”
CapJaxMathFax
Starting at: $29.95
The evaluation package demonstrates the full potential of CapJaxMathFax and how it works. If you’ve reviewed it and decided to purchase your “Home Use” license, then thanks and best of luck to your learners. You’ve made a good decision and you’re going to like the results.
If you have not yet downloaded the CapJaxMathFax™ Evaluation Program you can do it for free at any time.
Check List from their website…
Does the program address the full range of computation from addition to division?
Does the program address computation with negative as well as positive values?
Will my student clearly understand the objectives of the program?
Is there positive feedback for my student to enjoy working with the program?
Is feedback immediate?
Does the program allow me to monitor my student’s performance over time?
Will the program work at my student’s best pace for learning?
Will my student succeed at a rate that is challenging, but not frustrating?
Does the program allow time for my student to reflect on his or her work?
Does the program use timing in a way that that minimizes pressure?
Does the program provide printed reports of my student’s success?
Does the program provide graphical reports of success and progress?
I was glad to review this…..I know how important it is to find a good program, curriculum, or whatever!…ya know?
So any-who….my experience with this was….well at first, my first impression at the download was = it is an old system. Once I got is “up and going”….it was very basic. My son didn’t like it. But we are very advanced computer nerds…….well we aren’t but dad is. So that means we are introduced to the “latest and greatest” …but not always!!….And my son plays the PSP3…that alone is cool! This was just too plain for our taste. Yeah…it can do the job…but my son would think it’s torture to use it!….sorry CapJax. But ya know, I was thinking…….This may work great for the ones who don’t like the bells and whistles :-) Some kids get REALLY distracted by them. So a more back to basic program might be just what you have been searching for.
As homeschoolers we are able to have Bible as an important class in our daily classroom schedule. And if you have been homeschooling for any length of time …you know there are a lot of different curricula “out there” to choose from.
This one is called Judah Bible Curriculum. Here is an except from their site:
What is the Judah Bible Curriculum:
  • A Principle Approach curriculum for Bible class.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the Bible.
  • Build strong, Godly character in your children.
  • Study the Bible together.
  • Study the hand of God in the lives of individuals and nations.
  • For homeschool, Christian school, Sunday school.
  • Teach your children living Biblical principles to guide their lives.
  • Apply God’s word personally in every area of life.
  • The Bible is the textbook.
This is a “Principle Approach” based course. Here is their definition:Principle Approach refers to a philosophy of education whose content and methods are designed to build character in teacher and student capable of sustaining liberty.
The Principle Approach is a resurgence of the Biblical philosophy of education prevalent in the founding period of America, when the character of the American colonists was one of dependence on God, not the State. This enabled and impelled them to overthrow their opposition under the tyranny of England and become a new nation, free yet not in anarchy. This education was done almost entirely in the home and the church and yielded a populace that was 96% literate; today we are 46% literate.
Okay…now my thoughts on the program….it is a very good program. Especially for someone who wants to learn how to walk and live a Christian life…..this is a great program to teach you the Bible….especially if you don’t know it….There is A LOT of teacher prep involved to teach your children…Kinda like a teacher – teaching program — Go to their website and look around and see what you think. This may be just what you are looking for!! I was hoping for something a little more simplified. But like I said, for others…this could be awesome!!! Honestly – I know a friend that this would work prefect for for! She wasn’t raised in a religious family, so she really doesn’t know much of the Bible…so how can she teach it to her children?….this is perfect for her!!
Critical Thinking…
Critical Thinking is another company that I really like! And when we at the Crew were asked if we would like to review for them I was like….heck yeah!…loving it!!!
We were given a choice of which item we would like to review out a list. I chose → Math balance Teaches Algebra.
The cost for this book is $14.99 and it says it for grades 4th -12th.  (64 pages)
One of the main reason I like this company so much is due to the past books I have used. I enjoy the critical thinking, computation and problem solving. When I give these type of books to my son – I tell him they are more like puzzles. It takes the “fear factor” away!
The website describes the book as: “Understanding algebraic equations and solving algebra word problems has never been easier or more fun! This visual approach uses balance scales to teach algebra. The balance scales provide an intuitive, visual, and entertaining way to master fundamental algebraic concepts. The puzzle-like problems ensure students are cognitively involved while they hone their techniques of simplifying, substituting, and writing proofs to solve simultaneous equations.”
We enjoyed the book. When my son takes on the mindset of this stuff is puzzles….he sees it as fun…and forgot he was doing Algebra for a moment! ~smile~
Go to Critical Thinking website….grab a cup of coffee first! They have so much to look into buying!!!! Click can HERE!
God’s Great Covenant
If you have been reading my review post – then you already know -> I LOVE Classical Academic Press. (I have reviewed for them in the pasted.) Well we at the Crew was able to review their bible curriculum this time; which is calledGod’s Great Covenant. I was sent the God’s Great Covenant, New Testament One – teacher edition and student edition.
God’s Great Covenant, New Testament One :
~ Teacher edition $29.95
~ Student edition $26.95
~ Testament One Bundle $56.95 (comes w/audio book download)
Samples
GGC, New Testament One (PDF)
GGC, New Testament One, Teacher’s Edition (PDF)
Features:
  • 36 weekly chapters, divided into 4 themed units
  • Each chapter contains:
    • A memory page that includes a weekly memory verse, key facts chart, fulfillment of prophecy section
    • A thought-provoking “Think About It” question that encourages children to consider how to relate to God in their own lives
    • A worksheet and quiz
  • Unit reviews that contain a memory verse worksheet, devotional guide, and a fun short story of life in Simon’s world
The website says “He is the Son of Man, God’s Servant, the Messiah, and the Son of God. Each of the four units in this text emphasizes one of these names of Jesus. God’s Great Covenant, New Testament 1 teaches the Gospels to students in fourth grade and up, using stories, worksheets, memory verses, devotional guides, quizzes, and a little boy named Simon. In the introductions to the text, students will also learn about the historical, cultural, and geographical setting of the New Testament. This book is a most comprehensive and heartfelt study of the Gospels, and many parents and teachers will find themselves learning along with their students.”
I thought this was a wonderful program! …… Yes it is young for my son, but we both think it is very enjoyable. The website states it is for 4th and up but you could use it for young if you wanted. And it can be used in 5th and 6th grade.
Go to their website and and look around…and yes pick it up! And ya know…I have heard that a few other bloggers plan to buy the next books. :-)
Also y’all please go see what the other Mates thought about the curriculum…click HERE!
